I have to ask, does doing your taxes limit your mental capacity? Does writing code limit your mental capacity? There isn't much wiggle room in the rules surrounding those two situations. You get it right or you get it wrong.

This would make a good discussion thread. Submit it.

Organizing of beliefs is fine, the problem is when the organization and the units therein are inflexible, you see major problems. E.g. the people in the thread above this deciding to kill women showing too much skin. Or the idea of putting pants on goats to keep men from being tempted. This kind of crap is a function of an ideology that wholesale rejects critical review.

No, I am perfectly content and actual enjoy people who reach different conclusions based upon different viewpoints. I do not, however, have a particularly high tolerance of those who maintain their viewpoints are inerrant. I am even less tolerant of those who utilize improper evidence and flawed logic to back up said "inerrant" beliefs then plug their ears when refuted.

Much better than trying to read a fark thread an monitor updates by the submitter of an anondit.

That was my take too, and there's no worry about the thread mysteriously vanishing.

It's OK - our house is worth about 300k atm so we can buy something cheap there and live like hippies we think. I have a BA in film tech/animation and most of a Master's of Liberal Studies. Husband has a BS in Biology and some of a master's in zoology.

That's really good to know :) NZ is our happy place. Its the place we both think of when politics get us down. Just reading you lots news helps a lot. Plus I've family in Oz :) I like NZ better because you lot are more easy going IMO, and you have more space for cheaper rates without having to live in the Bush!

Our news is so, so boring. I guess that's part of the pull.

Animation eh? Like what? I always need advice from a pro on the small jobs I do, prepare to be hit up.

a ring brings jism: Hell, bN has no need at all for anondit. You can post as large a first post as you want (unless there has been a limit put on it since I performed that embarrassing experiment with pasting about 5,000 characters), and you can give updates via anonymous posts in the thread. Much better than trying to read a fark thread an monitor updates by the submitter of an anondit.

i think bN using anon-dit is a good idea. will wider advertisement. plenty of people read all the anon-dits. i think mentioning TF/F from bN in Anon-Dit is a non-starter.

All you like, no worries :) I was trained in traditional, so that's my bit. Most of what I do is old skool ink and paint. Actually, most of what I do now is just strictly paint!

Wait, I mean a totally random IP. Yeah, that's it.

All the better for having perfect timing and a good sense of what you're doing. Which I lack completely.

What would you be teaching?

There's an open invitation to a Fark party in the queue. What happens if bN gets invited? Will it disappear from TotalFark? Taking bets now.

fundamentalist =/= extremism

What I mean by Christian fundamentalist is that I adhere to the Bible. Pretty simple. I don't go around bombing clinics or harassing gay people. You know, love thy neighbor and all that.

I can be civil towards anyone, doesn't matter who. And I don't think I hate anyone. I may hate things people do (such as our commander-in-thief)...but I can't really say I feel hate for anyone.

They probably think you're crazy. Deviating from the accepted local norm is crazy talk. Avoid large stacks of kindling in case anyone has any opportunistic ideas.

It's really simple. Man's works won't earn him a ticket to heaven. Jesus paid the price for you, all you have to do is accept it. I know, seems too simple, doesn't it?

Well, the Bible says prove all things...I know that what I believe is right. And that's not to sound uppity or holier-than-thou, though it may come across that way.

Don't know. I used to believe in replacement theology, meaning the church replaces Israel, until someone showed me Scripture that supports dispensationalism--and this was in the past month or so. And the Bible makes more sense now. I no longer believe in replacement theology.

As a Christian you have to learn and grow. But the core of it is, Jesus dying on the cross to pay for sins. That will never change.

Well that's cool that you allow your faith to evolve. Do you believe the bible should be taken literally? Do you believe that there is any value in other translations?

Yes, the Bible should be taken literally--but not literally literally. Like the Creation account, that's literal. Prophecies in Revelation...you learn what the symbols mean. The Bible is for Christians to live by.

The King James is the only accurate English translation today. Other versions actually omit verses...for example, the King James warns against someone who would be angry at his brother without cause--while another version would warn against someone who would be angry at his brother. See what I'm saying?

Wait; how do you qualify that Genesis is literal but revelations is not?

Especially considering

Genesis 4:17 "And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch." When the hell did his wife enter the scene?

And Genesis 6:14 "They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort."

This is an old one, but wouldn't that imply that the dinosaurs were on the ark? I thought the way you rectified this was that they were destroyed in the flood, but if this is literally correct every beast should have been on that boat. Are dinosaurs not beasts?

Here's an image of mine that didn't result in any time outs, bans, or shadow bans:

Some guy was trying to get free design work for his band, named above. So to be "helpful," I submitted this image.

I have quite a few instances of events where I submitted stuff that was worse than things other people have been banned for on TOS, but I haven't been kicked off.

Not that I think the above image merits being banned, but it's arguably explicit, so whatever.
