Well, on my part, I had about 2 hours worth of phone calls, a bit more time spent trying to track down online copies... not to mention two other folks (faethe and wtfcares) generally dicked around trying to do what they could to verify the article as well. Not to mention another friend's wasted time looking for dockets on lawsuits filed in Kentucky to verify the contents of the article.

The LEAST he could have done was to do a better photoshop job...

I was one of the people voting his links down (with a suggestion that he discuss it in the beer garden or keep it in chat) because I've noticed lately that when I first look at another discussion forum, one of the things that will make me shut down the window in moments (and never think of coming back) is an open flareup of catfighting between users.

It's like visiting a dysfunctional family for dinner where people are being really ugly to each other over personal crap nobody else cares about...with rare exceptions, you never want to be invited back after a first impression like that. IMO anyway.

Still, my queue downvotes are only .5 of a point each, and I said as much. If a submission disappears entirely, it's a safe bet just about nobody wanted to see it as a thread.

Funny thing was, there was absolutely -nothing- in my IRC chat logs that mentioned Cuddles and pr0n of any type until *after* the queue stuff happened and Cuddles stormed into IRC demanding to know who was making the accusations. Whatever the deal was with the whole situation, it seemed to have happened entirely OUTSIDE of the bannination channel. Given what else I've been told, wild claims and outright lies are the norm for him. So..... rather than research that, I'm just going to stay out of THAT situation and not even bother with the speculation.

I think the big thing that got me was someone that was defending cuddles in the IRC when I was pointing out all the flaws with the alleged scan, and calling shenanigans on it. (I'm not calling anyone out for defending him, just saying what was said) The person defending cuddles said sometimes errors slip by editors, and that why would cuddles go to this length to make it up, and why is this a big deal.

While, yes, it's true errors slip by editors, errors of this magnitude coupled with the obviousness of the forgery didn't wash with me. No editor (or intern) is that incompetent - at least not that incompetent still holding a job.

Why would cuddles go to this length to forge it? I have no idea. The politics behind it don't interest me. I had to take a moment and point out that I didn't come from TOS, am not on TOS, don't personally care about TOS.

To me, it's a big deal when someone tries to forge documents to back up their claims. Being a graphic designer who once worked in the production department of a newspaper, I spotted the forgery almost immediately. I felt I had to point it all out and let others decide.

I can back up ratfucker's claim - he did spend well over 2 hours, actually closer to 3, on the phone being transferred all over the Lexington Herald-Leader trying to verify the existence of the article that cuddles claimed, and he walked away with nothing. So, my question is, why would cuddles spend over a week claiming this article existed and then try to pass of this bad forgery?

One other thing: When I pressed cuddles about it in the IRC, he claimed it was real, he had the clipping, and that obviously I didn't know what I was talking about. I asked him to snap a cell phone camera shot and mail it to me. He made excuses that he was tired and wanted to go spend time with his family, and left.

Cuddles: If you read this, here's my advice: Be very careful with whom you attempt to falsify documents and perpetrate fraud. Here, it is inconsequential, other than some general bitching. Out in the world, it could net you prison time.
