“I heard that Obama is a Muslim and his wife’s an atheist,” said Mr Simpson, drawing on a cigarette outside the fire station in Williamson, a coalmining town of 3,400 people surrounded by lush wooded hillsides.

And I heard that your mother sucks cocks in hell.

Seems as though every conservative-aligned person whom I've overheard speaking about Obama--and that happens surprisingly often--seems to be under the impression that he's a muslim.

Funniest instance involved a bevy of scandalmongering old white ladies in a chinese restaurant. One of 'em started stage-whispering to the others about how she'd heard...etc., etc.

Actually, I have to agree with Obama supporters who view this grossly distorted criticism of Obama's patriotism, religion, hair color, whatever, as nothing more than camouflage for deep rooted racism.

Oh yeah? I am a skinny white breeder with a gay filipino uncle and a jewish grandmother who likes to hit her cats with a newspaper. And my grandpa steals things and likes to burn them. I also have an uncle in law who is half-black but hates black people. And he may believe in fairies. Not like forest fairies or anything but he is afraid to set foot in San Francisco because he is afraid he will turn gay. He also has a fear of midgets, and hates my gay uncle because he is afraid he will try and have sex with him. He is also voting for Hillary for hillary since he thinks Obama is a muslim.

I guess the moral of the story is... don't live in Louisiana with 2 gay uncles and a grandfather who thinks that the government embeds listening devices in your lawn.

In Islam, men have far more power over their wives than most other major religions. Would a Muslim man take an atheist for a wife? Never. And yet you have many Americans holding such a view.

Ignorance must truly be bliss.

I sometimes sit and just try to fathom how these type of people get their information. I think it is fair to say that they actually believe that he is a secret Muslim and his wife is an atheist. If they do not believe it, then these "life long democrats" who will vote Republican over Democrat are basing their vote off of something else. In light of the fact that when interviewed this was the only information given/reported on, we can assume this information is the core of their reasoning. If not this, then something they did not feel like revealing in the interview (hint--edging towards racism).

So then, again, giving them the benefit of the doubt, we have communities of people who claim they won't vote for someone because he isn't "full blooded American." But even Fox news isn't advancing this type of disinformation. So they must be gathering in bars and talking politics to spread this around. Perhaps I am too much a child of the internet, but I cannot imagine anywhere in the USA where people would adamantly believe lies and not have the wherewithal to seek out accurate information.

And don't forget, the dems blocked it and we have at least one dead soldier because of it. They blocked it because there are 40,000 (real number) lawsuits poised by the dem supporting trial lawyers ready to be filed by any democrat that has made an overseas call for any reason. totalsecurity: Damifino, probably.

I change my answer to this.

A Lord may run for office, however.

President of the United States of America: Lord Bearpelt.

HOOAH!

Change your name to Lord Bearpelt and you can run as Lord.

The name alone gives you advantages: you're a leader already, you're strong on defense, you kill your enemies and take what you want. Plus, you have one of those awesome bomber type hats.

Why don't they just chip all the soldiers in their skulls or something? Seems like the technology would be there.

mrtoast: I wonder how many of our recent Presidents have secretly been atheists, but went to the Sunday dog & pony show for their political careers.

Ok now we are getting somewhere. Given Obama's speech in SF I think it highly likely he is either an atheist or at least agnostic. I think it is very strange that the right wingers did not pick up on this and went with "elitist" instead since atheists are hated far more then muslims.

capt kirk: Go do your own research you fucking asshole. It was a common story. Don't act like you don't know about it.

I really didn't know about it, and i read this site and many newspapers quite frequently each and every day. I'm not going to do your work for you. The burden of proof is on YOU and not me to prove yourself right and me wrong. I'm sorry it took elchip to link me to the story, which mentions NOTHING of Democrats (and also mentions nothing of Bush and McConnell).

The story was unfamiliar and I wanted proof of its existence coming from the person making the claim.

Its a standard of evidence you place on other people and its a standard i'm more than happy to place on you.

capt kirk: They blocked it because there are 40,000 (real number) lawsuits poised by the dem supporting trial lawyers ready to be filed by any democrat that has made an overseas call for any reason. Do we really want to bankrupt the telecoms for bullshit reasons? Do we really want them to refuse to help the government when we need them.

God, you libs are a bunch of stupid shits. I can't stand it.

If the Republicans really cared about saving lives, they'd vote on the legislation that gives them everything they want except telecom immunity, and work that out later.

Or perhaps the telecoms should have known the law.

Immunity for the telecoms is a fucking joke. If you support this in any fashion, you ought to be shot. If you want a liability-free telecom provider, just ask the government to create a state telecom company.

elchip: However, there's absolutely no evidence that the soldier would have lived if they didn't have to get a warrant. The cell phone calls were routed through the US, which is why a warrant was required. Democrats have voted to lift this requirement, but the Republicans (as usual) through a hissy fit and demanded everything.

I give up. You stupid fucking libs will say or make up any fucking thing you need to try and sound smart or to win an argument. Example above.

How do you I know don't already have the title of 'Lord' IRL due to some heritage or something?

I like 'Lord Bearpelt', and shall use it as well.

So HA!

You could, but you likely would have said "how do you know I'm not a lord" instead of what you did.

So you could be Lord Lord Bearpelt. That gives you an extra boost on your leadership stat.
