Bleh. Here I was hoping for a glut of foreclosed houses on the market to drag it even further down.

Hey, Congress might do something that isn't a give-away. What in the hell has gotten into them?

/On a side-note, oil prices up $2 more this morning.

No cost to taxpayers = you're already paying for it.

I hope bush vetoes this crap. Fuck their stupid, greedy asses.

Regardless that I pity children of the families in this situation, this is not fair on so many levels.

Don't waste your hope. You can be confident that if it's the right thing to do, he'll do the opposite.

I think we should bring back debtor's prisons, and stuff all of the subprime tards into 'em. Auction off their children to pay off their debts; they might actually end up with decent parents that way.

The House bill calls for using about $1.7 billion from the federal budget to set up the program, which would be administered by the Federal Housing Administration.

Oh, it's $1.7B from the federal budget. Because that isn't taxpayer money. It's magic fairy money that just happens to appear.

I think we should not subsidize "heads I win, tails I don't lose" risky bets, from big guys or little guys.

You'll get the glut anyway. I've been looking at these loans for a long time. Most people in bad loans can't afford them even before the resets. This will mostly just drag out the pain.

Fair enough. That still makes me a sad panda though.

I mean they say "and we won't use tax dollars!" in the same breath as "we're going to use $1.7B in tax dollars!" and most people still won't get it.

That's the House bill, the article is talking about the Senate bill.
