    Yeah, it's mostly a hack to keep the tag cloud from overwhelming the page. It seems to grow much larger than the bN1 cloud did.

    If you get around to fixing the tag cloud, grahams, could you please have the tags that come from a story be chosen by number of taggings instead of alphabeticalness? It's so depressing to see killer tags not get their due, just because "an hero" and "also roast beef" are clogging up the box.

    I would say tag elections should be decided first by # of taggings, and then ties resolved by precedence to earlier taggings. And of course, an untagging should count as a negative tag vote.

    \ I also have big ideas about auto-tags, but I'll wait until some of the dust settles.

    It really needs more size variation.

    This. And please let only-tagged-once tags show up until there are at least N tags tagged more than once. That way useful tagging can get kick-started.

    I got 32 ms on the 6-pager. This one was only 14 ms.

    Some of the new threads give me negative time, loading up before I even click on them. Occasionally bN2 comments for me before I've decided what to say, or posts Jetsons porn for me before I get a chance to look it up. That can be a bit disconcerting.

    That's one of the dangers of things that are proportional to time squared - occasionally the negative roots pop up and you get really odd results.

    Causality says you were going to look it up anyway, so stop complaining.

    For the tag cloud, might I suggest

    tag that has been entered once
    tag that has been tagged twice
    etc all the way through to nine-times tagged or whatever the maximum is.

    Then in the stylesheet,

    t1 { font-size: xx-small; }
    t2 { font-size: x-small; }
    t3 { font-size: small; }
    t4 { font-size: medium; }
    t5 { font-size: large; }
    t6 { font-size: x-large; }
    t7 { font-size: xx-large; }
    etc.

    This will give people the option of turning off tagged-once tags, and let style sheets adjust the relative sizes of tags.

    The current mess of deprecated font elements can't easily be customized in the CSS.

    Umm, the code fscked that up. Looks like preview unescapes everything in the edit box, rather than preserving what the user actually entered. Bad preview! No donut!

    Anyway, that should have been
    <span class="t1">tagged once</span>
    <span class="t2">tagged twice</span>
    etc.
