This is what our elected leaders think of us - I’ll call you anything I want to call you when you sit in that (witness) chair. You just be quiet

You don't own me. I pay your salary is perhaps the best part of that whole thing. Go Brinkley!
He'll get over it.
That Congressperson looks like a man but acts like a teenage girl.
What an overblown, used up douchebag.
It's a shame Young wasn't on the same plane Ted Stevens was on when it went down. They both are (were) total douche bags and crooks.
"You be quiet! You be quiet!"
Fucking douche.
dimensiation: You don't own me. I pay your salary is perhaps the best part of that whole thing. Go Brinkley!
Pretty sure he said "taxpayer[s]" pay his salary, I'll take another look. In any case, "You don't own me" was completely appropriate, to me, in that context.
The fucking hubris of some people.
Fucking douche.

I like the part of Senator Douchebag accusing the prof of being an elitist. I can't think of a more elitist organization on the planet that beats the snobbery of the US Senate.

Wait. Does he say "I call you [whatever] I want as long you sit in that chair... You be quiet, you be quiet"?
Too much noise for me to separate it.

BRINKLEY: "It's Dr. Brinkley, Rice is a university. I know you went to Yuba College and couldn't graduate..."
YOUNG: Well, I called you Dr. Rice. I'll call you anything I want when you sit in that chair. You just be quiet. You be quiet.

Thank you.
While I'm not a fan of the "I pay your salary" attack, mainly because it's useless, and, Brinkley's initial comment was a troll, Young's comment was very rage inducing.

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.
But, people who desire power are the ones who should least have it.
Congress is composed of people who:
1. Desire power
2. Are elected by people that, by and large, are completely unqualified to assess the fitness of a person to lead.
As a result of this equation we find ourselves living in a country run by this titanic douchenozzle.
The obvious question is "well, what's the solution then?", to which I would answer "drink more".

I hope to hear any insight that TS might have into Mr. Young.

I'd have told that pompous ass exactly what I thought of him, chided him for wasting his own, and everyone else's with cheap potshots and tired stereotypes, and then walked out of there.
Of course...Professor "Rice" was just about as childish, so I guess the whole thing is a wash.

There is obviously a backstory that we aren't privy to, but it looks like Brinkley wanted to remain on the panel, so insults and stomping off wouldn't have helped.
Having said that, if a Rep intentionally botched my name in such a fashion, I would have said something, too.

Young is a certified college dropout?
nately's whore: I would hit that. Oh how I would hit it.
She reminds me of Alison Angel, a GIS for whom would be quite NSFW.
