Damn. And I was planning on jailbreaking my LG420!
The iPhone doesn't need to be broken because it just works.
eddyatwork: The iPhone doesn't need to be broken because it just works.
that is because it is for simpletons that are afraid of computers (woz comes out with the truth after cesar dies)

So I will just add it to the long list of laws I ignore when nobody is looking.
You can pry my cyanogenmod out of my cold dead BIOS.

I have unlimited data and text for $40/month from my member-owned co-op. And a nice phone, not a cheap Wal*Mart phone.

don't get a virgin mobile phone they cap it at 2.5 now.
Yeah, that'll stop me.
Do you people that complain about data caps actually look at your usage, or are you all really just using 10 year old nokia phones and concern trolling?

I don't have a cap, but I've checked my usage, and even when tethering I am still way below the avarage caps.

Too bad Android RIMS usually don't work as solid as the software it came with.
The T-Mobile Vibrant is a great example.
Keep your nodded phones, I'll stick with my fully functional phone.

Yeah this. There's a reason that the companies set the tiers they do. AT&T has 200mb, 2gb, and 4gb. If I turned off images I could stay below 200mb a month no problem. With images on (low res, it's a 3" screen fer chrissakes) I average around 350mb a month. I once used 800 mb in a month but that was my only internet at the time.

I hit 20gigs in 21 days the first month I tethered, because I had been told it was unlimited. It was actually capped at 5gig and they shut it off and called me when the overage hit $1000.
They took it off my bill when I played the I didn't know and this is how loud I can yell game.

Were you streaming scat pr0n or running a server sharing the latest episodes of My Little Pony over a goddamned wireless connection? Does your computer have 423,827 viruses on it? Low Orbit Ion Cannon? Botnet? WTF BRO?!
that's a gig a day, or 42 mb an hour. 728k a minute. 12k a second, 24 hours a day.
Do you seriously think that bandwidth is unlimited? Did you ever think, for a moment, that people like you are the reason we can't have nice things?

Tney shouldn't advertise unlimited if it's not unlimited.

Neat how it's the exemptions that are up for renewal and not the DMCA itself.

A gb a day isn't that much. HD streaming can put you over that, easily.
\Not to mention system images...oy gevalt.
-\And bandwidth is inherently limited by the RATE * TIME. It's simple math.

Yeah, I understand RATE * TIME. But you're not paying for a dedicated RATE * TIME unless you're getting a dedicated loop. The telco doesn't run trunks to RATE * USERS, but to RATE * USERS * %OF PREDICTED UTILIZATION, which is figured from data on users and what they're likely to do. That's why a T1 costs more than fios. You don't really want to see what your cost would be on a data plan if you had to pay for a dedicated channel from your handset to the backbone. And unless you used it all the time, you'd be paying for wasted capacity.
Yeah, they said it was unlimited, but using a non-dedicated connexion for a dedicated service is a dick move.

That's how it's advertised: a given RATE for each month.
If that's not how they want to implement it, then they need to change how they advertise it.

You know what, it just occurred to me, it's so weird that we still talk about dialing phone numbers when a large number of calls are placed on phones that don't even have buttons, let alone dials.

Phone number?
Oh, you mean the numeric code assigned to certain people in my addressbook for voice traffic!
