Compared to the average American suffering under his policies? Yeah, yeah it is.
The fluke and rock fish were probably farm raised tilapia. Which is how most restaurants rip you off.
wow, that brings douchey political blogs to a new level.
that is not a lot of money for dinner for two at a nice place in DC. Especially if you are talking 5 courses including wine.
I rarely order a bottle of wine when I take my wife out because very few restaurants have a good wine list with reasonable prices. I have a serious issue with paying $35-40 dollars for wine that I know I can buy at the grocery store for $10-15.

What’s more, the Obamas warmed the earth a bit as their multi-car, fossil-fuel-burning motorcade roared out of Washington for a 25 minute trip to the Alexandria, Va. restaurant.

Indeed. There is a high end steakhouse in the neighborhood and everything is ala carte. The four of us there ended up with a 200 dollar bill.

I've spent $300 on dinner for 2 in Las Vegas and it was shit compared to the $150 dinner for 2 I had at Tilth in Seattle. I'm sure $300 in DC is pretty OK compared to Vegas, though.

Aside from the fact that the two Moochers that occupy the WH are hell-bent on showing off their ‘rags to riches’ imperialism, when was the last time a sitting President and wife ever, ever ventured outside the confines of the WH except for official business? They are nothing but world-class exhibitionists -drunk with power! A public sighting of the POTUS used to be a rare event but in this case, the Obamas are as common and unwelcome as house flies!

no, it's called whitehousedossier.com. never heard of it. I scrolled down and read the comments. There appears to be some serious anger about Obama there, but it's also hard to tell the trolls from the actual haters.
He has a "satire" section on his page, but this story's not in it. And it was linked onto Drudge's page, so I am guessing that he's actually trying to make something of this. That or he is such a fantastic troll that you cant even tell.

If you eat on the strip you are over paying for almost everything on the menu. There are some great places to eat though, and $300 would be on the low end for the really great places. Il Mulino in the Ceasars Palace Forum shops has Shrimp Scampi Fra Diablo for $75, it is so good I'd pay $100 for it.
next time try the sterling brunch at Bally's on Sunday. $80 a person.

That's not even remotely absurd. We went out for a nice dinner on the weekend because we'd both been working a lot and hadn't spent much time together. I think all said and done that came to $180 and we weren't even aiming for high end.

I really like a good BYOB restaurant. There a lot of them in NJ because the liquor licenses, like everything else in this state, is so damn expensive.
czarangelus: Compared to the average American suffering under his policies? Yeah, yeah it is.
swingingjohnson: OK... name ONE thing in your life that has been affected by Obama's policies.Go on. I'm listening. This better be good.
You're going to get nothing.

The Liquor Control Commission here just started approving licenses for BYO wine restaurants. Apparently it's good form to call ahead and make sure the wine you're planning to bring isn't something the restaurant already has in their collection.

Nice of Canadians to try to put many restaurants out of business (and their employees w/o a job).

the bon_scott: Sorry the intro to busines 101 confuses you.
We still have to pay the corkage fee, I'm not sure what you're "intro"-ing to me.

Limiting customer enjoyment and accessibility is the best way to make money, it's basic economics.

Do yourself a big favor and never open a business. Like a lot of idiots on bN, and in the world, you're too divorced from reality to understand that business's bills don't magically pay themselves.

As a very successful business owner and economist I can laugh at your assertion that every business can make a nirvana experience for their customers without charging them for it.
What are you, 14 years old?

No, you've taught me that businesses can't go around giving their customers choices they want. It's bad for business, and bad for not losing at life.

Now you're just trying to be more stupid than usual. Of course businesses should give customers a choice, but in the real world (and not the fantasy world that you and other bNers are living in), that doesn't mean that most or all of those choices should be free... if the company wants to stay in business.
Why is such obvious basic stuff so hard for some of you to grasp? Some of you idiots make tea-tards look well-informed and pragmatic.

The President and First Lady like each other enough to want to spend time alone together? We have no blueprint for this.

You did see quinblake's post about how corkage fees still apply, right? The only person I see saying everything should be free is the imaginary friend in your head that you apparently enjoy yelling at.

I'm just posting to people who think that there should be no corkage fee, or any other fee for that matter.
And if you're such a loser that you can't take your date to a nice restaurant and buy a decent bottle of wine or 2 then you probably feel right at home on bN with all the other whiney losers and pirates.

Go on. I'm listening.

I thought about this, and I'm not really sure I can name a single policy of the Obama administration other than Health Care. Everything else he's done seems to me to be in reaction to other factors.
The housing bubble was a result of policies started during the Clinton administration, which probably built on Reagan era policies. These policies were good for business and made people look like they were doing better, so no one bothered to look at them. All the while, a few investment guys saw what was going to be the end result and took advantage of it, while the people who should have known better got drunk and drank the kool-aid of ever-rising tides. In the end, our leaders, if they even cared, did not want to do anything to rock the boat.
I'd like to know how much Romney spent on dinner, what about Gingrich. Santorum is a self-righteous douche so I could care less. What about Flava-flav, whose valentine's day expenditures are just as relevant as Obama's.

My wife and I drink water with our meals most if the time just because we want to. We don't drink and drive, either. Only losers do that.
