Lo, in the twilight days of the second year of the second decade

Cute. Is there a readable version somewhere?

The whole point is that it's a pastiche of overblown romantic adventure novels.

tl;dr: My girlfriend's family is full of retards who can't handle technology, so I crawled under the desk and rebooted the router to fix their tubes.

Why is his girlfriend's family still running IE6 in the second year of the second decade?

I like the writing, it amused me.

    Some people still use AOHell.

I noticed it while glancing over their shoulder at a wifi hotspot.

Because they're technologically-illiterate midwesterners. They're also using a compaq presario--when's the last time you saw one of those in the wild?

Because fuck if I'm going to offer to even begin fixing what's wrong with the computer.

The former tech support agent in me adores this. God, the tales of ignorance...they'd fill a book. A big one.

I've seen some documents from lolyers with an aol e-mail address. I can only guess it's easier for them to keep in touch with some clients who don't know who to update their address book. (the ones with yahoo, hotmail, and gmail make me wonder why they can't splurge on a domain name to look a little more professional. Yahoo has a small business setup where they maintain the back end so you can at least have a non-yahoo address on a yahoo system)

The old mouse was brought out and plugged in beside the new mouse. Still, The Google did not load.

This does nicely summarize the computers of most people.

As does google. And domain names aren't expensive.
