FTFA: “A lot of the people that are dealing these drugs are after our kids,” Kasich said at a news conference. “When you see something, call this number.”

No, no they are not. They are after selling drugs to people who buy drugs at a huge markup because they are illegal. If your "kids" are doing drugs then its the parents fault one way or another.

Fuck you, I have tons of hiding places in my car, they were installed by the manufacturer, eat a dick.

A draft of the law describes a hidden compartment as a “space, box, or other closed container” that is added, modified or attached to an existing vehicle.

That's an intelligently worded law if I ever saw one.

In other words, a vehicle modified to have secret hidey holes would qualify as illegal.

Your glove box, spare tire compartment and your center console aren't likely to get you prison time.

No, with the wording of the law you can use a compartment that is factory, like under the ashtray to hide a joint and NOW that is a secret compartment because you "modified" the space and you have a felony joint instead of a misdemeanor.

My guess is it's a bit of story embellishment from Police, but who knows, I suppose there could be a good reason to rig it up like that.

Except any officer/DA combo worth their crooked salt could find plenty of ways to find existing compartments illegal, or abuse the wording to apply to other compartment additions that clearly would qualify as either non secret, or of actual utility, as in a tool box etc. "Well you see, your camper was locked and you then refused a warrantless search, therefore even though we found nothing, we read the statute requirements to be applicable to charge you with a felony under this law."

And then...we haven't even discussed the fact that trafficking drugs is already illegal. The compartments have little if anything to do with the actual act. We gonna outlaw empty plastic bags and cardboard boxes now too? It's a stupid law that will solely be used to shakedown and harass innocent people.

My god, today at the gas pump(thanks stupid TVs that play commercials everywhere!) they were saying they are going to make it more illegaler to shake a baby to death. Seriously, they want to pass an even stricter law that makes shaking a baby MORE illegal. How the fuck do you make something more illegaler?

It's all about the Prison Industry. They're all in on it: Cops, Criminal Lawyers (Prosecutors), Legislators, Judges, Lobbyists, and of course, The Corporate Prison Industry. It's all about locking up people to take away tax dollars for their criminal enterprise. It makes good media fodder for an enterprising lawmaker to mob onto a local tragedy and paint themselves as a crusader. They're usually terribly written, hyper specific laws that do more damage than good too.

See, and what right do they have to criminalize something that is in of itself entirely legal. I can own a gun, and thats cool, but its only illegal if you shoot someone with it.

This is just another way they can tack on a few more felonies to someones arrest record.

And hopefully this gets thrown out in court as being unconstitutional. It literally makes a hidden key box a felony for fucks sake.
