  • Shocking! "Cloud" based media locker UltraViolet is just a DRM scheme designed to make you re-pay for the shit you already bought!

Sounds like a system created by project architects and project management who don't have a clue what they're doing. Scope creep kills the media locker.

Wow, what a complete and utter shitfest. Are there really that many people who want to watch a movie over and over and on a tiny low-res screen through ear buds? Get off my lawn!

How about if I keep taking what I want for free and continue to ignore bullshit services like this?

NetFlix Blu-Ray rental is my next upgrade. Just as soon as I upgrade my disk storage and my network. Rip-n-return baby!

It's an idiot tax on people that can't figure out how to rip and transcode.

I'll still pay a buck at the Redbox from time to time. I throw the ones i want to keep on my external.

Once the price of HDDs goes down a bit (not until August, says The Register) I'm thinking of rolling together a proper media server box--XBMC, perhaps, with sickbeard or similar, for the purposes of viewing my Assuredly Legitimately Obtained Entertainment Materials.

Having a VPN endpoint on my home network, together with a little DNS magic, would enable me to access said server from anywhere.

    Private cloud: it's where it's at. ;-þ

Good to know that drives are coming back down soon. Those floods in Thailand really fucked the market for a long time.

Yeah, I was expecting this reaction. My boyfriend was a consultant at WB when they were developing that, so I've know about it for a while.

I hope all consumers will be pissed off like this and tell WB to fuck themselves.
