radiation causes cancer? No fucking wai!
Also, why the fuck do you need a damn xray to get your teeth cleaned? Seems like a pointless thing to just pad out the bill while giving you cancer.

Not saying it's untrue... but always read the actual study.
"The exposures to dental X-rays in the study took place in the 1960s, when dental X-rays delivered higher doses of radiation than today’s do."
This is hardly comparable to modern xray machines (as far as dose).
Also, this study was based entirely on self reported exposure to dental xrays for both groups and thus likely suffers from significant recall bias.
That being the case, I never allow someone (dentist, doctor) to xray me/patient unless there is a clinical reason why. And if you aren't having pain, just "to take a look" is not a reason.
I also never, ever go through the TSA "back-scatter" xray systems. (though the millimeter wave machines are fine)

I generally won't go through either because they don't make it clear which is which and the machine operators refuse to answer even the most basic technical questions about them

Bitewing films are the only way to spot interproximal caries when they are still easily treatable.
Be more than happy to do root canal therapy and crowns on your teeth that never bothered you a bit. I have a lady coming in on Friday for that exact same reason. What would normally have cost her 1 visit and about $100 will now cost three visits and $2000. Just for one tooth that never bothered her a bit.

Because cleaning the dried cum out of your teeth is only part of the procedure. There is the whole "exam" part where we look for potential problems.
There is also no a whole lot of profit made in a few films, but unfortunately the laws made by libs hold me responsible for missing caries, not you. And I do not have x-ray vision.
You, the patient, are considered too ignorant to make that decision, and bitewing x-rays are considered standard of care.

Like all libtard studies, it is filled with flaws and jumps to conclusions

Well I am a libtard, and I was going to call the study insignificant
I remember getting x-rays every check-up, and I still will.

To go one step further, the way the study had been presented in the media is fear mongering.

Can't be worse than all this "OMG cellphones and towers gives cancer!11!!". If you that worried about electromagnetic fields, dump your fridge in the garbage!

You are not a libtard val. You quite often show signs of reason and logic.

It was on our fairly benign local Canadian news, and portrayed as IT WILL GIVE YOU CANCER, everyone panic!!!

They'll always tell you... if it's
"millimeter wave" it's fine (just radio waves)...
if they say "backscatter" or "xray" it's a no go.
Also, the machines look different... the millimeter wave machine is the phone booth thing that spins around you. The back-scattter machine looks like two biiig rectangular blocks that you stand in between.

I thought that too, but denver has the spinning machines and they definitely told me they were xray based. I thought that was wrong, but it did nothing to inspire confidence.
Ultimately mm-wave is more like microwave than xray, but i'm not 100% sure I want to be exposed to it either

They are wrong.
the "spinning" machine is radio wave ('millimeter wave')... the xray are the two back to back rectangles. This is something I am 100.0% sure about.
That said, never a bad choice to just go with a pat down since that's where you're going to end up anyway for any of the 99.99% of false positives they "find"

That's what I thought too, but on multiple occasions they've referred to the ones in denver airport as xray machines. The fact that the TSA don't even know what technology they are using doesn't really inspire me to trust their dosing controls.

Yeah I get taht and i'm generally not worried about EM radiation, I suppose I'm more concerned at the general lack of transparency - if the average TSA represntative can't explain the equipment they use day in and day out then who's to know what it's doing.
