He knew they were just campaign promises, the kind of promises you never really plan to stick with.

All President do it, you really can't be surprised, unless you live under a rock.

Well, I'm going to pick the guy that sounds the best, because that makes me feel good. Who cares what he's actually done!

    The Obameter Scorecard
    Promise Kept 180 (35%)
    Compromise 58 (11%)
    Promise Broken 69 (14%)
    Stalled 63 (12%)
    In the Works 136 (27%)
    Not yet rated 2 (0%)

But sure, I would agree that he is not nearly liberal enough.

Well he has the right convinced he is.

Too bad that's not going to help him...

Obama is marginally less bad than Romney.

Spot on. We can be disappointed, disillusioned and angry though.

If I promise to give you a nickel and not to kick you in the balls, does keeping only one of my promises give me a 50% rating? No matter which I choose?

A lot of stretched conclusions here - many based on an interpretation of prior statements that doesn't really jive with at least my understanding of what was "promised."
Seems a lot like someone had to make a deadline and had this one on the back burner because it wasn't yet a well-formed argument.

Seems more like someone finally noticed that Obama is the plutocrats' best friend. Wall St. fucked up? Pay their bonuses with taxpayer money. Health care crisis? Make it mandatory for people to buy private insurance. Worried about the peasants revolting? Groom a closet corporatist to be President and claim he's a socialist.

    Feh.

    Don't progressives see this?

    See it?

Fuck. I think most progressives know it by heart.
It doesn't matter though. Each parties' progressive contingent is held hostage by its right-wing morans.

    Go team Regressive!

Maybe Romney would be a better choice at that. Better an honest enemy than a false friend.

Ok, I'll expand on that. Romney doesn't even pretend to give a toss about the majority of the population. Obama presents false hope that he does. I used to think he was sincere, but worthless and weak; now I think he's duplicitous and a liar.

That's not really fair. Romney is just as duplicitous as Obama and pretends to care as well.
